What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a focus and imagination. Usually, relaxation is part of the clinical experience, but it's really a secondary benefit.

The Scottish surgeon James Braid coined the term "hypnotism", then later he sought to change the name to ""monoideism"", but the name had already caught on. He changed his mind on the name because as he researched it, he found that "hypnosis" had a lot less to do with "hypno" (Greek for "sleep") than it did with focus.

In a hypnotic trance, the noise in your mind stops and you are able to focus with crystalline clarity on the voice of the hypnotist and the suggestions being made.

Do you make house calls?

Before I opened the office in Duvall, I saw clients by subletting space from a massage therapist and by making house calls. Most clients now come to see me at the office, but I am open to other options.

If you are interested in meeting me somewhere or in me coming to you, I am open to discussion about that. Of course, I will need to charge for travel time and the like, so the session will ultimately be more expensive than a visit to the Hypnotechs office. Do you accept everyone as a new client?

Some situations require that we decline to work with certain people from time to time. Those reasons may include, but are not limited to:

If during your first appointment it is determined that we will not be able to accept you as a new client, your payment will be refunded in full and subsequent sessions canceled.

Nothing could be farther from the truth. The more intelligent and imaginative you are, the better subject you are likely to make.

What if I want to experience hypnosis, but don't need therapy?

That's fine.

Sometimes you just want to try something. I get it. We still have to do all the required paperwork, but if you don't have anything specific to work on that's completely okay. I can demonstrate some hypnotic phenomenon, show you what real focus feels like and send you away to sleep like a baby that night.

No, not unless you want to. In general, acting like an animal is not part of a hypnotherapy session, unless you have specifically asked for that as part of your goals.

It's funny to see imagination run amok on stage, but most hypnotherapy clients would not find it the least bit amusing.
