Why I decline most weight loss and tobacco cessations clients

I prioritize working with clients who are genuinely committed to making meaningful changes in their lives. While I welcome clients from various backgrounds and challenges, I typically decline to take on most weight loss and smoking cessation cases. This decision stems from my experience that, unlike many other client types, individuals seeking hypnotherapy for these specific issues often show a pattern of resistance to the consistent effort required for successful outcomes.

Successful hypnotherapy is not a passive process; it demands active participation, including completing homework and implementing behavioral changes between sessions. Unfortunately, many clients in the areas of weight loss and smoking cessation do not engage fully with this necessary work. This lack of engagement leads to repeated sessions without progress, which ultimately wastes both their financial resources and our time.

In todays environment, awareness about the harms of tobacco use and the importance of maintaining physical health is widespread. However, many clients pursuing hypnotherapy for these reasons are not motivated by a personal desire to change but rather by external pressures or the wish to say they "tried everything." Without genuine commitment, the long-term results that hypnotherapy can provide are unlikely to be realized.

My goal is to support clients who are ready and willing to invest in their own transformation. For those not prepared to do the work, I believe it is more respectful and effective to acknowledge this early, rather than prolonging a process that wont yield lasting change.

I value the success rate I share with the clients I choose to work with and so do they, but hypnotherapy is not magic. It takes work from both of us. It's incredibly good at defeating resistance, when the client supports it by "doing the work". But in the face of active resistance, it's frustrating for both of us and I end up "firing" the client and telling them to come back when they are willing to participate. I can't do the work for you.

If you are genuinely interested in doing the hard work, and want to partner with me to accomplish change, EMAIL me with your story and maybe we can work work together. Otherwise, I wish you all the best in your journey and sincerely hope you find something that works for you, when you are ready.
